Personal Consumption Expenditures



PCE decreased less than 0.1% in December, and real PCE decreased 0.1%. Note: The PCE price index, excluding food and energy, increased 0.2 percent.The personal saving rate was at 4.0% in December.

Personal Consumption Expenditures


The growth in real consumer spending has been positive for the last seven months on an annual basis, and reached a 31-month high in June of 1.7%, the highest growth rate in real consumer spending since November 2007.

Personal Consumption Expenditures: April 2010


The quarterly change in PCE is based on the change from the average in one quarter, compared to the average of the preceding quarter.

The colored rectangles show the quarters, and the blue bars are the real monthly PCE.

Spending only increased slightly in April compared to March.
